Toronto is the most diverse city in the world, and is evident in the unique culture that exists within the downtown core, in relation to the outskirts of Toronto, it’s a whole different world. Ministry in a different culture requires missional skill to observe, understand and read the foreign culture in order to appropriately hear what God is doing, where the Spirit is leading, and then for us to follow and obey. This is why raising awareness is imperative for ministries to grow. This streetwalk is a training tool for students to spend time in the downtown core to learn how to read the community (community exegesis) and learn where we fit in justice and compassion work. The hope is that this learning would evoke a response to tangibly meet needs. There are many justice issues right on our doorstep and this experiential learning module is designed to not only expose, but also teach tangible applicable skills that are transferrable to your own home community.

This streetwalk is designed to teach using the city as the classroom to see the world through missional eyes. Although brief, the goal of this walk is to evoke an impactful response to ministry not only the city, but to become aware of the missional gaps from our own doorsteps.
